Arik Levy
Arik Levy was born in Tel Aviv. The artist and industrial designer attended Art Center Europe in Switzerland, where he graduated with honors in 1991. Levy uses a multidisciplinary approach in both art and industrial design. His works have been included in several museum collections. After graduating from Art Center College of Design, Levy went to Japan. He is particularly respected for his furniture and lighting design. His work is represented not only in prestigious museums and galleries, but also in the product portfolios of companies around the world. The Split chair, which he created for the Czech company Ton, combines more than 150-year-old technology with contemporary design. The base consists of a hand-bent split of solid wood, which for the first time in seating furniture is both a design and functional element - it creates support for the seat and backrest at the same time.
