Benedetta Tagliabue & Ersilia Vaudo
Two talented women, Italian architect Benedetta Tagliabue and astrophysicist Ersilia Vaudo, have joined forces to create the technologically and aesthetically sophisticated LUNE D'ACQUA luminaire inspired by the universe for Artemide.
Benedetta Tagliabue has many successful projects to her credit, such as the new Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh, the Spanish pavilion for the Shanghai 2010 World Expo, the Santa Caterina market and many more. She co-founded the international studio EMBT Architects with offices in Barcelona, Shanghai and Paris and also teaches at international schools and universities (Harvard, Columbia, ETSAB in Barcelona, etc.). Her work has been awarded countless prestigious prizes and she herself sits on the juries of design competitions. Among the most important ones is the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
Ersilia Vaudo is a graduate in astrophysics, and later earned a certificate for executives from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at the Harvard Kennedy School. She works at the European Space Agency in Paris. She was involved in ESA's first space exploration programme and has held several senior positions. In 2020, she was appointed curator of the XXII International Exhibition of the Triennale di Milano.
