Benny Frandsen

Benny Frandsen was born in Skanderborg and studied electrical engineering. His dream was to design and manufacture a unique lighting solution. He started as a kid by designing lamps for a local club, then tried - and failed - to convince his boss at the time to give him permission to start making lamps. Benny Frandsen realised that what the Danes really wanted were round lamps, so he designed his first round lamp, aptly named "Ball". This lamp proved to be the starting point for his career. Ball became a huge success and soon the lamp was available in various versions. In 1972, Benny Frandsen moved the production of his lamps from his home to the factory in Skanderborg to better meet the huge demand for the Ball. Today, Frandsen is licensed to produce approximately 80 designs of Verner Panton lamps. Benny Frandsen has truly proven that good design and good business acumen never go out of style.
