Jerszy Seymour

Jerszy Seymour is a designer in the broadest sense of the word. His aim is to transform reality, guided by a constant sense of humour and an eccentric sense of poetry. His work often plays with industrial and post-industrial manufactured objects and ranges from interventions and installations involving a range of media and materials, to films, music and writing.

Seymour grew up in London, where he attended South Bank Polytechnic and studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art. Immediately afterwards he moved to Milan where he began working on a number of independent projects. In 2004, he founded the Jerszy Seymour Design Workshop in Berlin with the aim of bringing to life a series of conceptual projects to improve the image of design in society. These activities and other ongoing experimental and conceptual projects form the basis of his work. He has developed strategies for companies such as Magis, for which he has also created original collections such as FLUX and BUREAURAMA, as well as Vitra and Alessi. Seymour's work has been exhibited in many museums around the world, including the Design Museum in London and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. His works are also part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain (France) and others. In addition to his active design practice, he also teaches and leads workshops at the Royal College of Art in London, Domus Academy in Milan and ECAL Lausanne.
