José Antonio Gandía-Blasco
José Antonio Gandía-Blasco was born in Valencia, Spain in 1956. He also studied law at the local university, but never pursued it. After his studies, he returned to his family's blanket manufacturing business, where he first worked as a sales representative. However, a strong artistic impulse led him to reconsider the original business plan and the whole focus of the company. In 1989 he contacted the Valencia studio La Nave and completely changed the corporate image. The now notorious logo with the image of a slender cat was thus created at the same time as the launch of the first designer carpet collection, which won the IMPIVA award for innovation in 1990. José A.Gandía-Blasco's main focus is on outdoor furniture design, which he began in 1996 when building his summer home in Ibiza. The Na Xemena collection, which he created at the time in collaboration with architect Ramón Esteve, is still the flagship of the brand's outdoor furniture.
