Luciano Vistosi

Luciano Vistosi was born in 1931 in Venice and spent his childhood on Murano, an island famous worldwide for its artisanal glass, where his family owns a glassworks producing industrial products. In 1952, after the death of his father, Luciano was forced to abandon his studies, take over the business and, together with his uncle and brother, transform it into the new company Vetreria Vistosi. The new project departed from the industrial concept and focused on research and design.

Vistosi was an artist who had acquired his knowledge in the glassworks, but still managed to follow an independent path. In the late 1960s, he became interested in the technique of blown glass and began to create his first sculptures in the kiln. Thus began an artistic journey that produced several sculptural works in blown glass and sculptural glass blocks. He held his first solo exhibition in 1968 at the Alfieri Gallery in Venice. Over the years, others followed in various places around the world, including San Francisco, Madrid, Cologne and Japan. Luciano Vistosi died in Venice in 2010.
