Michael Sodeau
Michael Sodeau was born in 1969 in London. He studied product design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, graduating in 1994. He was a founding partner of Inflate and in 1997 he established his own design studio , the Michael Sodeau Partnership. In addition to designing for SME, he has created for several international manufacturers including Abet, Architectural Lighting, Asplund, Bute, Christopher Farr, Cloth, E&Y Japan, Thonet Vienna, Gervasoni, Isokon Plus, Liv'it, Magis, Modus, Offecct, Royal Doulton, SCP, Swedese, Tronconi and Wedgwood, and has presented internationally with solo exhibitions in London, New York, Stockholm and Tokyo and a retrospective exhibition in Paris.
Sodeau's designs are also in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum and a book about his work, Once upon a Line, was published in 2000. He has won several awards including the Red Dot Award for Best of the Best in Product Design for the ANYTHING line of stationery, a brand developed by Sodeau for the Japanese company Suikosha. Alongside this, he has created, for example, the harmonious OYSTER collection for Offect, which embodies grace and comfort.
