Pascal Mourgue
Author of several iconic pieces of furniture, but above all an artist with a distinctive handwriting. Born in 1943, Pascal Mourgue has dedicated his life to fine art, architecture, sculpture and industrial design. He graduated from the prestigious Ecole Boulle and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. He never wanted to become the focus of media attention and always preferred his integrity to commercial commissions. His wide range of work led him to create sailing ships for Cartier or crystal objects for Baccarat.
Only in the 1980s did he focus more on designing furniture. Long-term collaborations with Ligne Roset resulted in the Calin armchair and the Lover sofa, which won the Red Dot best of the best award, as well as the Downtown sofa. Other collaborations include the Tonon, Fermob and Knoll brands. Pascal Mourgue was inspired by the world around him, elements from different cultures and the needs of his customers. His works have a significant aesthetic value, but they certainly do not lack functionality and timelessness.
