Stefan Heiliger

Stefan Heiliger was born in Berlin and studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. For many years he worked as a designer for Mercedes-Benz. Soon he began lecturing at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach and in 1978 he founded his own design studio and established cooperation with many companies in the furniture world. His work is not the result of focused research, but rather of tentative discovery and the practice of trial and error. His work embodies the ultimate in comfort, convenience and cosiness with a clear pragmatic consideration of cost. Heiliger's projects stand out from the rest because they are not intended for galleries and museums, but primarily for the market.
