Svein Asbjørnsen

Svein Asbjørnsen is one of the most important figures in Norwegian furniture design. He was born in Sykkylven, Sunnmøre, and became interested in the field very early on thanks to his father, who ran a furniture factory. Later, he studied at the University of Art and Design in Oslo while gaining work experience in Ingmar Relling's studio. In 1969 he won a scholarship for young up-and-coming designers, was part of the young Møre Designteam movement and worked on many innovative and iconic pieces for which he collected many prestigious awards. He and his sapDesign® studio have designed for many major brands, including HÅG. He has worked with the company since 1981.
