Umberto Tolino


Umberto Tolino graduated with honours in industrial design from Politecnico di Milano. He has worked as a designer and researcher in the field of communication and interaction design. He has been working in visual, product and interaction design since 1997. In 2002 and 2003 he was included in the ADI Compasso d'Oro Design Index and was selected for The New Italian Design exhibition at the Milan Triennale.

He has taught at the Design School and contributed to various master classes at Politecnico di Milano with themes based on digital and interaction design. Since 2010 he has been an assistant professor at the Design Department. For the last eight years he has been a visiting professor at Unisinos University in Porto Alegre, Brazil, with several workshops focused on territorial branding. He is particularly interested in interaction design applied to communication artifacts (digital and physical), digital innovation, brand identity and social media strategies. Among one of his typical works are the Whatever lessons for Progetti.
