Czech craftsmanship tradition
Kaplan Furniture is a Czech brand that boasts an incredibly long tradition of making wooden furniture. It began its production in 1934 and has maintained its place on the market despite various difficult historical vicissitudes. Today, the Czech brand is run by the fourth generation of the Kaplan family . Every product is made from the highest quality wood. Even though the original handcrafting has been supplemented by machines over time, you can still be sure that you are getting your hands on a true original. In the brand's portfolio you can find wooden chairs, tables, bar stools, benches, coffee tables and other furniture suitable for furnishing homes, offices, hotels and other interiors.
History of KAPLAN FURNITURE
The story of the brand begins in 1934, when Karel Kaplan (grandfather of the current owner) founded a joinery workshop in the village of Orlice. As part of his craft, he began to specialise in the production of one of the most complex items - wooden chairs. Thanks to the great efforts of the owners and employees, the company survived the Second World War, after which it enjoyed short years of prosperity, which were ended in the 1950s by the great collectivisation. Kaplan Furniture and all its machinery became part of the cooperative. The founder's son has also devoted his life to the craftsmanship tradition and helped the current owner with the restoration of production in the early 1990s.
As soon as possible, the company's very existence was restored. The current owner, Pavel Kaplan, decided to continue the tradition of chair production and added tables and other products to the portfolio. In a region with a long history of joinery production, he found his first employees and his first outlets. The products soon found their way to foreign markets, with the Netherlands among the first foreign markets, followed by Germany, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia.
Kaplan furniture has won numerous awards throughout its history. Products have been awarded at New Design competitions, for example, and the company won the Grand Prix at the For Furniture trade fair.
KAPLAN loves quality wood
Kaplan Furniture has been producing wooden sofa tables, chairs and other furniture made of solid wood and veneer for four generations in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains. In the production of Kaplan, it combines its long experience with modern technology and knowledge. He takes special care in the selection of materials - the best quality wood, which is processed with love. To achieve the desired stability, the wood must be dried, which is why it is dried in condensation dryers after processing. The perfect precision in production is ensured by machining resources, but the production does not lack the human hand, which alone can bring the surface to perfection during the final sanding. The choice of natural wood makes each piece of furniture an original. The pre-assembly of the products is then carried out in hydraulic presses, the final colour and usable properties are determined by the surface finish. The furniture is available in dozens of stains, varnished and oiled.
