History of Lapalma
The success of the Italian company Lapalma did not come overnight, but is the result of hard work and passion. The company was founded in the 1980s by the Marcato brothers, who 30 years later, in 2010, inaugurated their current headquarters. Every product is created here and then distributed to 81 countries. In the beginning, the company focused on seating and then, after achieving many international awards, transformed their collections into a system of versatile minimalist products, ideal for all environments.
"When we started the company, we made our first furniture in a garage a few metres from home in Cadoneghe on weekends. It took us hours to make a small table. Today it takes us fifty seconds to shape the continuous wavy line of the LEM stool. "Dario and Romano Marcato, founders of the company
Research and technology
LAPALMA invests a great deal of resources in improving the efficiency and quality of its production methods. It invests in state-of-the-art equipment and machinery, which are used in a constant search for innovative solutions. LAPALMA is not only a brand, but above all it is a place of work and a laboratory whose strengths are the skills and know-how of an experienced craftsman who shares with the company's founders the dedication and passion for their work.
The brand has always championed traditional methods and techniques of wood and metalworking - craftsmanship is combined here with the speed, precision and efficiency offered by the latest industrial technology. While machine tools are used to produce the skeleton of the individual elements, finishing, assembly and packaging are carried out by hand. Each individual piece is then subjected to visual and manual inspections to ensure complete quality control.
Companies think about sustainability
LAPALMA has always shown a commitment to the environment, from the way it manages its factory to the materials it uses in it. It selects only FSC-certified wood, uses 100% recyclable raw materials - wood, steel, plywood and fabric - and uses minimal plastic. Their suppliers are preferably selected in the neighbourhood to avoid long distances. Based on their efforts, the German certification body Tüv has certified their production system to EN ISO 9001 for efficiency and qualityand to EN ISO 14001 forenvironmental compatibility.
Designers at Lapalma
LAPALMA creates exceptional design furniture for which they have won many design awards: the Good Design, FX International Interior Design Award and the Design Plus Award. The success is mainly due to the collaboration with renowned designers who are constantly coming up with new ideas. Finnish designer Karri Monni is behind the timeless MIUNN collection of chairs and bar stools, Enzo Berti has brought geometric elements to his CUBA + CUBO collection and Francesco Rota has focused primarily on comfortable seating. The brand has also worked with Pio & Tito Toso, Fabio Bortolani, Patrick Norguet and Hee Welling.

LAPALMA is a manufacturer whose products are attractive for hotels, shops, museums and airports around the world, in addition to the home. The Library of Birmingham, the Microsoft House in Milan and the MAXXI Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, for example, are proud of their beautiful furniture.
