History of Concept Wiesner Hager
A good piece of economic and industrial history of Upper Austria
Originally a joinery factory, Josef Wiesner founded the company in 1849. His sons then converted part of the joinery shop into a furniture factory and laid the foundation for the second branch of the company. The first success came in the 1920s, when the company began exporting garden furniture to England. Unfortunately, the world economic crisis of the 1930s put an end to this very solvent business and the following years were a real question of survival for Wiesner Hager and many others.
From 1935 onwards, things slowly improved again. A milestone for the company was the order for the Colosseum cinema, which started a long tradition of furnishing cinemas. Other major commissions (such as the Festspielhaus theatre in Salzburg) were not long in coming. At the beginning of the Second World War, the company made its living as an army contractor. However, material and labour were becoming scarce, and operations came to a complete halt for a few months. After the war, however, development returned to its original level.
By the mid-1960s, the company was one of the three largest manufacturers of seating furniture in Europe - even then it was No. 1 in Austria. In 1984 the company changed its focus, withdrew from the business areas in which it had previously operated (housing, cinema, theatre and catering) and began to devote all its efforts to furnishing offices and buildings. During these years, the company also focused on expanding abroad, and in 1995 a production plant was built in the Czech Republic. Today, Wiesner Hager is one of the most renowned companies in the furniture industry in Europe.
Durable and quality furniture
The toughest quality control of all time
When it comes to quality, Concept Wiesner Hager is uncompromising. It considers the usual laboratory stress tests insufficient and has supplemented them with new, somewhat unconventional stress series. The swivel chair has to prove jumps and pirouettes on the U-ramp. The folding table must keep up with the surfboard. The barstool has to be able to navigate a frozen canal.
Furnish your workspace with Wiesner Hager
There are hundreds of references for Wiesner Hager furniture in Europe alone. In the Czech Republic alone, the brand has helped dozens of companies to create their working environments. Successful implementations come, for example, from the Prague headquarters of the global cosmetics brand L'oreal. An unconventional implementation took place in the Church of the Holy Cross in Pelhřimov, where the clergy opted for more modern but very tasteful seating furniture. Also worth mentioning is the Moravian Library, where the historic light interior was coloured yellow and blue. Would you like to use Wiesner Hager products in your realisation?
