Bjarke Nielsen
James Boganik Nielsen (born Bjarke Nielsen) is one of the leading furniture designers in Denmark, where he spent the first 19 years of his life. He then went to England to study management and graduated in 1995 from Sheffield Hallam University. In the following years he worked in Paris, France. It was France and the romantic nooks and crannies with its architecture and style of living that inspired him to become a designer and eventually manifested itself in his work. His path to design was opened up by the French platform for supporting up-and-coming designers , VIA, led by Remy Vriz, with whom he successfully participated in many design competitions. In order to continue his passion and develop his creativity and talent, he returned to Denmark and started his career as a designer. His first work, the Conoid chair, saw the light of day in 2004. Later, he started a collaboration with DAN-FORM Denmark with 5 dining chairs, the most striking of which is the Dolphin chair, in which the Scandinavian style is noticeably evident.
Nielsen believes that artistic inspiration always comes from life experiences and their influence on us. He has travelled and visited many museums and exhibitions to enrich his cultural background and understand design and products on a deeper level. In 2008 he went to Asia where he started and experienced another completely different culture and life. He was so impressed and inspired in fast developing and historic countries such as China, Hong Kong and Vietnam that he came up with many innovative designs that were very famous and popular during his six years in Asia. He now runs his own design firm , Boganik, in China.
