Friis & Moltke
Friis & Moltke Design is a branch of the traditional Danish company Friis & Moltke Architects, founded in 1954. The leader of the branch is architect and designer Mikkel Bahr. The brand's activities are very diverse, with lighting, furniture, industrial design and interior planning and realisation, literally all over the world. "The know-how of Friis & Moltke Design grows on the solid foundations of all these disciplines, which inevitably interact with each other," says Mikkel Bahr.
The birth of the subsidiary was the result of a merger with Lampas, a company primarily dedicated to the production of lighting. This brand still produces iconic Friis & Moltke pieces today. The influence of architecture is still undeniable in these products, despite the application of modern technology and production processes. The Friis & Moltke lighting collections focus on sustainability and timelessness, ignoring passing trends. Mikkel Bahr firmly believes that lighting is the lion's share of our life satisfaction. "Working with light is crucial for architects, especially in Nordic areas where natural light is scarce most of the time. We want to create pieces that serve this purpose and also please your eye when they are just switched off."
