Giulio Lazzotti

Giulio Lazzott was at the forefront of Italian design in the 1970s and 1980s. He received his education at the prestigious University of Florence, where he later returned to teach architecture. He began his career as an architect and engineer, but his focus on craft mixed with playful wit eventually led him to focus on industrial design.

Lazzotti is internationally recognized for his work with stone, particularly marble. He has organized numerous symposia on the material and taught courses such as "Design in Marble" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy. He always emphasized the sculptural dimension of the objects. Following the tradition of classical Italian sculptors and craftsmen, his products are made with a precise eye for material nuances with a modernist simplicity. His work is modern, moreover, combining a sense of craftsmanship with industrial production.
