Kazuhide Takahama
Kazuhide Takahama was born in Japan in 1930 and after completing his architectural studies in Tokyo, he started working in the studio of Kazuo Fuioka. In 1957 he came to Italy for the Triennale in Milan, where he met Dino Gavina, with whom he worked for many years. In 1963 he moved to Bologna and came into contact with the most active Italian designers of the time, which opened up new horizons for him. He won commissions from a number of Italian design houses for both residential and public spaces, including the facade and VIP lounge of the Guglielmo Marconi airport and the waiting areas of Bologna's bus stops. The furniture he designed is characterised by clean lines and formal austerity. In his works, the features of the oriental culture in which he was educated overlap with those of the western culture in which he was immersed.
