Marco Dessí

Marco Dessí is an Austrian designer working from his studio in Vienna, which he founded in 2008. The prestigious studio Dessí works with a number of international clients and cultural institutions on various levels - from furniture and product design to complex spatial solutions. The studio's approach to projects is practical and collaborative, with design seen as an interactive process. Studio DESSí also engages in so-called self-initiated projects, which serve to experiment with materials and test procedures. The knowledge gained can later be applied in commercial projects or further developed to meet the requirements of industrial production or hand replication. Custom design work at DESSí Studio always begins with an individual study of each client and then continues with an exploration of appropriate production methods and their inherent possibilities.

DESSí Studio is not committed to any particular style, preferred material or one-size-fits-all approach. For the members of the studio, design is a craft characterized by a deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and their interconnections. Marco Dessi believes that the way a product is made influences not only its aesthetic appearance, but the story it tells. In his daily practice, he emphasizes transparency in the context of a consistent link between the design process and the actual conditions of production.
