Matthias Demacker

Matthias Demacker was born in southern Germany in 1970. He studied design at the FH Niederrhein in Krefeld and worked with a number of different architects' studios at the same time. In 2003 he founded his own studio Demackerdesign, whose aim is to create emotional products that last and provide a lasting impression of perfect design. He has received many accolades internationally; among them the Interior Innovation Award, a nomination for the German Designpreis in 2005, the Red Dot 2007 and the Good Design Award 2010.

He has also established a close collaboration with the Italian company Sovet, which infuses the tradition of Italian glass art into modern design. This results in furniture pieces that are characterised by originality and elegance. For Sovet, Matthias Demacker has created an extravagant collection, dominated by the Slim coffee table, and for Softline, the Basket collection of armchairs. His designs are fresh, memorable and unusual.
