Patricia Urquiola
Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain. She studied architecture at the Technical University of Madrid, where she graduated in 1989. From 1990 to 1992 she was an assistant in the courses of Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli at the Polytechnic University of Milan and E.N.S.C.I. in Paris. From 1990 to 1996 she worked for Studio De Padova and together with Vico Magistretti she is the author of the following products: "Flower", "Loom sofa", "Chaise" and "Chaise Longue".
In 1996 she became director of the Associati Design Group, working for brands such as Alessi, Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina and Kartell, for which she created the uniquely designed COMEBACK collection. During that time she worked independently for B&B Italia, Bosa, De Vecchi, Fasem, Kartell, Liv'it, MDF Italia, Molteni & C., Moroso and Tronconi and designed exhibition stands and showrooms for Knoll, Moroso, Sag 80 and Somma. Her products have been selected for the Italian Design 2001 and International Design Yearbook 1999 and 2001 exhibitions and she has received numerous awards including A&W Designer of the Year and the Design Prize Cologne. She currently runs her own studio in Milan and is involved in design, exhibitions, art and architecture.
