Ron Gilad
Ron Gilad was born in Tel Aviv in 1972. After several years in New York, he returned to Tel Aviv to live and work. He also extended his work to Milan, Italy. In Italy he works with companies such as Flos, Adele-C, De-Castelli, and Molteni&C. His works appear in solo exhibitions, such as the one at the Museum of Art Tel Aviv, and are part of collections in Israel and abroad. In 2013, he received the Wallpaper Design Award (Designer of the Year; Best Home Design) and the Elle Décor International Design Award (Designer of the Year; Furniture Design).
Ron Gilad's hybrid objects combine practical ingenuity with aesthetic impact, positioned on the border between the abstract and the functional. When Ron Gilad was asked to collaborate with Molteni&C, he initially wondered whether he should act like a designer or be himself in the most authentic way. He found his answer by making a connection between his more abstract and artistic ideas and the mechanisms of the commercial industry, and translating them into the sophisticated design products he has enjoyed ever since.
