Sam Hecht & Kim Colin
Sam Hecht and Kim Colin are a creative duo working out of their own design studio , Industrial Facility , in London. They create simplistic products that inspire users to live life to the full. While Hecht's approach is very deliberate and thoughtful, US-born Kim Colin balances it with her architectural flair. Sam and Kim's furniture and other products are always tailored to the environment in which they will be used. "We strive for ease of use that doesn't hinder functionality. The result is a balance; our pieces are relevant and durable," comments the pair on their work.
Since establishing their studio in 2002, Sam and Kim boast prestigious collaborations with Yamaha, Issey Miyake, Louis Vuitton and other premium brands. Many of their designs are part of museum collections including MoMA in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum Finlandia in Helsinki, San Francisco MoMA, Centre Pompidou in Paris, the State Museum of Applied Arts in Munich and the V&A Museum in London. The pair have been appointed to the prestigious Royal Designers for Industry (RDI), the highest accolade for designers working in the UK.
