Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti is one of the most influential architects and designers of the 1960s. He was born in 1920 in Milan to an architect family. He enrolled in architecture school in 1939 and moved briefly to Switzerland four years later. Returning to Italy in 1945, he obtained a degree in architecture and immediately began working in the studio of his father, who died the same year. During his 50 years of activity, he carried out many important architectural projects, especially in Milan. Among the most famous are the Torre al Parco, the offices on Corso Europa, several projects for INA-Casa and other villas and residences. From the late 1970s he taught at the Royal College of Art in London, with which he had a great affinity. He received several awards, including the Gold Medal of the Chartered Society of Industrial Artists & Designer in 1986.
