Vrtiška & Žák

The duo Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák are among the top in the field of Czech design. They met while studying at VŠUP, completed an internship at Alvar Aalto University in Helsinki and have been working together for more than a decade. The portfolio of their work is very rich. They deal with the architecture of private houses and interiors, corporate headquarters, catering businesses and urban planning. They design furniture for Czech and foreign companies and industrial everyday objects. The renowned Prague studio Vrtiška & Žák duo designed, for example, the LAMBDA chair collection for the local brand RIM. The results of the work have been part of Prague Designblok many times, clients include Zásilkovna, Brokis, Adidas, Ravak and many other companies.

The common feature of all projects is unconventional thinking and creativity, both designers like to overcome challenges and have the ability to find hidden potential. In their work we often see craftsmanship and always the highest quality materials. Despite the fact that the studio has won countless awards for its creations and the products have pride of place in the collections of galleries, it is the satisfied customers that they value the most. Since 2016, Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák have been leading the Furniture and Interior Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, passing on their knowledge to a new generation of designers.
