DeVorm
Dutch design furniture DeVorm
Innovative, customisable and sustainable interior products
Founded in 2005, the young Dutch company DeVorm combines efficiency, design, sustainability and variability. It works with the best experts across disciplines and offers high quality products at a fair price. Chairs, sofas, modular sofas, tables or desks, acoustic panels and lighting. All of these meet today's standards of durability, aesthetics, localism and recyclability. It was also one of the first furniture manufacturers to use the advanced PET felt material. DeVorm's philosophy is that every product should make every day easier, contribute to the visual and physical experience, and last for years. In short, it embodies the needs of contemporary working and private life.
Values and production
The future shape of furniture is shaped from the first sketch, when experts combine new techniques with promising materials. Innovative manufacturing techniques are then interwoven with the design, giving rise to honest products that will meet the expectations of today and remain relevant for future generations. Manufacturing processes are key to keeping DeVorm one step ahead while still being able to offer goods at affordable prices. Variability is also a key feature. Endless colour and material choices ensure that individual pieces blend in easily with the rest of the furnishings or, thanks to the vibrant colours, stand out and dominate.
Sustainability first and foremost
Timelessness and top quality play a central role in sustainable design. The Dutch company's products have found the intersection between durability and visual appeal. They are thoroughly tested from the outset, and based on this, the choice of materials and construction processes are then further adapted to meet maximum strength and impact resistance. The manufacturing process also focuses on minimising waste and making the furniture easily recyclable at the end of its useful life. This is ensured by the possibility of easy disassembly.
DeVorm also prides itself on localism. All suppliers are located in Western Europe. This minimises transport and the subsequent ecological footprint. These local suppliers meet the strictest standards and laws for the furniture industry. All assembly takes place in their own factory, which is energy neutral. It uses renewable energy in the form of solar panels. Future plans include saving even more energy, reducing CO2 emissions and waste, improving the quality of the indoor environment, better resource management and many other steps. The company even owns and cultivates its own forest to maintain as much biodiversity as possible.
Innovative PET felt and other materials
Wherever possible, furniture is made from recycled materials. DeVorm is one of the pioneers in the use of PET felt for furniture production. This saves plastic waste from landfill or incineration. The first product was the POD PRIVACY chair and then expanded to other seating models, lighting and acoustic elements. PET felt is characterised by its durability, easy maintenance and excellent acoustic properties. Other materials used include infinitely recyclable aluminium or CO2-neutral and certified wood.
Realisations and projects
De Vorm's designer and durable pieces are popular with architects and designers across Europe. The London headquarters of fashion brand Ted Baker, theVerwaltungsgebäude Pröckl GmbH office building in Germany, the Korn Ferry offices in Paris and many other restaurants, corporate headquarters, schools and lecture rooms have come alive with the playful yet minimalist design of furniture from the extensive portfolio.
